My name is Kyle Demeule. I’m a Data Engineer and Software Developer based in Vancouver. I’ve previously worked as a Data Scientist at Clio and as a Data Engineer at Hailo Data.

I enjoy writing software and helping business create and maintain their data and reporting infrastructure. In my spare time I like to run, watch movies, and play hockey.

I received my Master’s of Computer Science from UIUC, where I studied Data Mining and High Performance Computing. I also received a Bachelor’s of Science in Computing Science from SFU, doing co-ops at Research In Motion, Microsoft, and Metalogix.

Projects

I’ve worked on several projects for fun or school, here’s a few of my favorite:

Running with Prefect: an ETL pipeline created using Prefect to sync activity data from Strava to Bigquery and visualize it using Streamlit. See the live app here!

beginner.land: a site to help you get started with new hobbies, mainly musical genres.

Sparkbar: a small Python library for creating text bar charts I call sparkbars (based on Tufte’s sparklines).

Ampliview: a tool to help write more useful reviews for Yelp. See it live here.

Innertube: Chrome extension to search YouTube videos based on their captions.

Ripeness Recognition: an image recognition tool to identify bananas from photographs and classify their ripeness.
